The Silent Poem

Silence is a poetry of the life. Silence is the decoration of the night sky. The stars are silent. The moon is silent, so are the space and time. All the virtues emanate from silence. Silence, then, is the wisdom of all the wisdom. It is the channelization of all the energies into the domain of the universe. It has the power to make you what you can be - the best version of you - as goes the saying. The nature of true silence is spiritual.

There goes a story, that, after attaining the enlightenment, Lord Buddha stopped speaking. He ran into silence. He didn't utter a word, or rather, he didn't feel like uttering a word, for days. On seeing this, Brahmaji approached Buddha and requested him (Him?) to share his wisdom, his wealth of knowledge of Buddhahood, with the seekers, the Bodhisattvas. Buddha replied, with utmost tranquility, he spoke, because he had something to say, to reply back to Brahmaji, that, he had nothing say, nothing to preach, for the ones, who have already attained the enlightenment, do not need his inputs, while those, who are not seeking it, won't need his knowledge. To which, Brahmaji replied, that, there is a small group of seekers, who are just stuck at the border of enlightenment. Please help them crossover. Please help them liberate themselves. And it is after this, according to that story, it was that, Lord Budhha started delivering his lectures. All his lectures were silent. Each word, each letter, each breadth and each mudra, were silent. That silence does not mean the absence of words - it is only the absence of attachment and present of the ultimate wisdom. It is also said that Buddha was always in the state of meditation.

Being mute is not being silent. You are muted - not silent. Being mute is the state of being under some pressure or coercion. It is a state, where you want to share something, but can't share it or are not allowed to share it. There is no tranquility or peace in that state. In fact, there is a lots of chaos, a lot of questions and at times, a lot of anxiety. So, being mute, is not being silent.

Krishna was of course silent by His sheer nature. The whole Geeta, which carries the philosophy of all the philosophies, is a silent ocean. And you know the ocean, right? The pearls of the ocean can only be found in the deepest hearts of the seas. Krishna never "killed" anyone. He was a Yogeshvar. He was the complete incarnation of the Saguna Brahman. He did not seek (and never would He be required to) "revenge". He was calm throughout his Human incarnation. His anger was also having an aura of calmness, and silence. Krishna was quiet when He went back to Vaikuth.

The words have no meaning without silence. The silence in the words only makes the words credible. The quiet words have the powers of the quieter seas and the loudest tsunamis. If you ever go to the heart of the tsunami, you will have realised, that there is complete silence. The outer part of tsunami is unstoppable, because it is in the state of meditation all the while.

So, then, what is it that we can do with this silence? Can we be silent throughout our lives? The life today is so much more complicated. There is so much chaos. Well, I never said it was easy. If it were easy, I am sure, we would not be trying to learn all those relaxation techniques in the first go. But yes, the ultimate peace comes from within. If you are silent within, you are going to be relaxed, liberated and free in the outer world too. So, celebrate the silence. Celebrate the fact that you are "alone", both in material as well as in spiritual terms. It is this state of being alone, that will pave way to the real silence.
