NFOs, a complex mutual fund product! - A tough nut to crack

Image
Well, I am always looking for some good theme to write on. Have not written much off late on Personal Finance and Mutual Funds. Of course, I am only, at the most, a mutual fund enthusiast, who knows a bit more than many ill-informed or semi-informed people out there. One school of thought believes that NFOs (New Fund Offers) are useless bets. When you have so many existing schemes, why to go for a new scheme. While you have some historical data points and qualitative information (for example, the profile of the fund manager) to judge an existing scheme, not much is available on NFOs. The only thing you have is A BEAUTIFUL SALES PITCH. I also happen to belong to this school of thought (a thorough loyalist, even the same applies to IPOs, but we will talk about it later sometime). Let us start with the data of one recent NFO of HDFC Multicap Fund, derived from moneycontrol on 27 Dec, 2022. An understanding that you are merely 'an observer', who is doing acting on the roles, he/she has been assigned. In fact, all others around you, are like that only. They are also playing a part in your life. That's why the one, who is 'good' today, becomes 'bad' tomorrow. Or you are 'good' for someone today and will become 'bad' tomorrow. Heroes becoming villains, friends becoming foes, somebody becoming nobody are just the phases of this illusion. None is good or bad. It the role that they have been asked to play in your life's movie. The same way, you have also been asked to play a role in those people's lives. You call it by the name of Karma, luck, law of attraction or any other fancy name. The fact is, we all are caught in this web(s). Many of us know that already

Workplace Spirituality

#pv_diaries #work #job #experience #spirituality Spirituality - Finding the meaning in the work. The word 'spirituality', has been highly misunderstood, claim many. I won't claim they are wrong. I will only claim, at the most, that, it is a very relative term, and will mean something different to each of us. And, that is the way, it has to be treated. In the context of HRM, it is about finding meaning in the work. Seeing something more than 'performance', 'KPIs', 'productivity', 'outputs', 'outcomes' and 'promotions' in the form of the result of the work. In other words, it is about seeking 'intrinsic reward' of the work, over and above the 'extrinsic reward'. But mere intrinsic reward (job satisfaction) is not good enough, to be happy with what you are doing, in a sustainable manner.  And that is where workplace spirituality may come into picture. It is about making sure that people find 'meani
